Community Building

Our long history in local and regional journalism provided a unique opportunity to identify and target community priorities and access influencers and decision makers who, together, could make a difference.

Today, 20/20 is a leader in building and promoting intentional networks across Southern California that proactively address local and regional priorities.

Inland California Rising/Regions Rise Together: 20/20 is working with community and business leaders to better position California’s Inland Empire and Central Valley as a region of innovation and opportunity.

Career readiness: We’re working with multiple school districts, workforce development agencies and business organizations to help build innovative career pathways. In Fontana, we’ve helped convene the Mayor’s Education Roundtable, uniting stakeholders around a shared vision of preparing students for long-term job opportunities close to home. We’ve provided ongoing strategy and messaging assistance to The Convergence, a partnership of hospitals, colleges and universities designed to meet Inland Southern California’s growing health-care workforce needs. We’ve played a leading role in furthering the Randall Lewis Health Policy Fellowship, preparing graduate students throughout Southern California for careers in public health. Other career-readiness efforts we’ve supported include GenerationGo!, which provides pre-apprenticeships to hundreds of students in San Bernardino, and the MARS Career Promise initiative, which trains students, young adults and veterans for careers in aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

Healthy communities: 20/20 is helping to facilitate discussions at the local level on the connection between a community’s health and its prosperity. We founded the LiveUp! Initiative in Upland, helped build stakeholder and financial support for the Healthy Ontario Initiative and have championed the Randall Lewis Healthy Communities Institute, HealthCorps and the need to address mental health services at local school districts.
