As a SoCal native, who majored in psychology and management, my career has always revolved around working closely with people and organizations from private, public and the nonprofit sectors. Deana and I tell it to our kids all the time: Enjoy what you do and try and make a difference. For years, journalism filled both those needs, but the work I get to do now – alongside people and organizations who are trying to make our corner of the world a better place – is pure joy.
